Biographie de l'auteur :
William F. Cavitt was born July 13, 1940, in Corning, Arkansas, a small town in the northeastern part of the state. Bill joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 15.While serving in Hawaii he entered Chaminade College of Honolulu where he received a Bachelors of General Studies in Sociology and Psychology. Upon being transferred to Pensacola, Florida he entered the University of West Florida (UWF) where received his Masters Degree in Psychology. Bill retired from the Navy at the age of 35 and shortly thereafter started his doctoral program. He was awarded his doctors degree in Education, concentrating on Educational Psychology, from Florida Atlantic University. He served as the Deputy Director of Navy Technical Training at the Chief of Naval Education and Training, Pensacola, Florida where he was in charge of about 70 program managers of instructional systems. After retiring from the Department of Defense, Bill taught Psychology at Darton College, a small two year college in Albany, Ga. He truly loved his teaching experience at Darton, but the illness and eventual death of his oldest son required him to resign and move back to Pensacola, Florida. After leaving Darton, Bill went into private practice as a psychotherapist at the Center for Holistic Rational Living and became the director. He recently gave up his practice to help care for his grandson Cavitt Izon Breeze, who was born blind. He has been married forty years to Patricia Anne (Izon) Cavitt and they have three children: Jennifer, Kimberly, and Ernest. They also have four grandchildren: Rachel, Jacob, Cavitt, and Hanna. Bill is presently an adjunct psychology teacher at Troy State University, Florida Region. He lives with his wife Patsy in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Présentation de l'éditeur :
This is the story of Cavitt as told by his maternal grandfather Papa Bill Cavitt. From the moment he was born, this perfectly formed infant boy became the focus of many people's lives. This is a documentation of how he impacted his papa's life. In this book the reader will vividly see how he also influenced others. The story shows a journey from birth to the end of the first two years of Cavitt's life; which closely corresponds to the infancy stage of a person's developmental process. It was written as a record for Cavitt to read when he is old enough to understand just how much he is loved by his family. This is a story that may also help others who find themselves going through the same emotional whirlwind when a baby who is blind is born into their family. This story illustrates the developmental stages of well-being for a child and how these stages are impacted by blindness. You will take a journey with Cavitt and see how he developed physically, psychologically, cognitively, socially, and morally during the first two years of his life. The title and letter size of the title is very important to Cavitt's story. First, he is Cavitt and will always be Cavitt. Secondly, at the moment this book was finished he was in that temporary state of being two, but is now on a journey toward three, four, five, and beyond. Cavitt is a person who is blind. This is a reality and cannot be reversed. However, in the scheme of his lifespan it must become a characteristic of Cavitt that does not dictate his life, merely influence it. Therefore very small letters!
