Biographie de l'auteur :
BIOGRAPHY Born August, 1920, Hyman today is an eighty-plus years old senior who lived an active life in the history of his era. His childhood was during a grinding worldwide depression. His family's money was budgeted but he lacked none of life's essentials. He had three sisters, no brothers. For public high school, he was assigned to the city's elite all male academic program. In his senior year he applied to only one college, the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School. He received early acceptance. During the last half of his senior year there, the United States was attacked by Japan. Shortly after graduation, Hyman enlisted in a program offered by the Army Air Force. He became a cadet with basic training at Boca Raton, Florida and advanced technical training at Yale University in New Haven. After graduation as a Second Lieutenant, he boarded a troop ship on the west coast heading west. He served in Finchaven and Hollandia, New Guinea and was in war-ravished Manila when the atom bombs were dropped on Japan. Ultimately discharged, he returned to Baltimore to find his father seriously ill. The next day Hyman reported to the family's wholesale business to take charge. A major duty was the frequent replenishing of its inventory of hand-made women's accessory wearing apparel. To do so required overseas travel to economically deprived countries where talented handicrafters existed and costs were low. This included countries all over the world. He eventually made these trips twice a year using a round the world ticket with many stops. This lasted for thirty-eight years. Between business appointments he would take long walks studying the countries, their population and their cultures. He absorbed a great deal of information on the human population of Earth-- their thoughts, their hopes and their problems.
Présentation de l'éditeur :
The first two-thirds of the book is an explanation of the world we live on and who and what we are. Imagination is employed. We come on the Earth with preprogramming. We are created as from a single mold; all humans are subject to a life of stress. All humans are a mix of good and evil. We have freedom of choice in some of life's decisions. We are being given enlightenment to prepare us for an assignment. We will need to pass certain tests to determine if we have achieved adequate stability to create and maintain equanimity wherever we reside. The last third of the book dwells on that point. At this time, the human race is at a crossroads. Will we lose restraint and destroy ourselves, or will we take command and develop a stable interrelationship between all religions, all points of view, all races, all sexual variations, etc.? Can we achieve that maturity? Can we subjugate our emotions to create and maintain harmony? Do we have a future? The last chapter. The Postscript.
