THE AUTHOR, PROFESSOR A. MAGID. O. BAKHEIT GRADUATED FROM LVOV MEDICAL SCHOOL (USSR) WITH HONOURS AND TRAINED IN NEUROLOGY IN LONDON AND GLASGOW. HE HOLDS TWO DOCTORATE DEGREES (MD & PhD) FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW, AND A MASTER DEGREE AND DIPLOMA OF CLINICAL NEUROLOGY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON. HE IS ALSO A FELLOW OF THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS OF LONDON.PROFESSOR BAKHEIT STARTED HIS ACADEMIC CAREER AS A LECTURER IN CLINICAL NEUROLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW AND LATER BECAME SENIOR LECTURER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON. IN 1997 HE WAS APPOINTED PROFESSOR OF NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION AT PLYMOUTH POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL SCHOOL AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE PENINSULA MEDICAL SCHOOL, UNIVERSITIES OF EXETER & PLYMOUTH, ENGLAND. HE IS ALSO AN HONORARY CONSULTANT WITH PLYMOUTH PRIMARY CARE NHS TRUST.
