As its name suggests, Skeptoid II is a collection of skeptical factoids - short pro-science essays debunking a broad variety of phenomena in pop culture with pseudoscientific or paranormal foundations. The foreword is by Michael Shermer, one of the world's most outspoken promoters of critical thinking. Skeptoid's chapters are adapted from 50 episodes of the popular critical thinking podcast of the same name. Just about every popular pseudoscience is represented here: Everything from paranormal phenomena such as crop circles, Nostradamus and ghost hunting to quack health trends like bioidentical hormone therapy, electrosensitivity, and the alleged mercury-autism link.

Brian Dunning is an author, podcaster, speaker, and software investment professional in Southern California. It is all a desperate flurry of activity to avoid anything that smacks of real work. His free weekly podcast Skeptoid: Critical Analysis of Pop Phenomena began in 2006, taking the underdog side of science and rationality amid the overwhelming majority of noise in the media promoting pseudoscience, alternative anything, and unconditional acceptance of the paranormal. The choice between pseudoscience and science is the choice between the developmental stagnation of the Dark Ages, and progress. Brian takes every opportunity to speak on critical thinking issues at colleges and local groups. In his spare time he enjoys Jeeping in the desert with his family and playing beach volleyball (badly).
