Présentation de l'éditeur :
Leopold is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. The aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature, and our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. The contents of the vast majority of titles in the Classic Library have been scanned from the original works. To ensure a high quality product, each title has been meticulously hand curated by our staff. This means that we have checked every single page in every title, making it highly unlikely that any material imperfections – such as poor picture quality, blurred or missing text - remain. When our staff observed such imperfections in the original work, these have either been repaired, or the title has been excluded from the Leopold Classic Library catalogue. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, within the book we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with a book that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic work, and that for you it becomes an enriching experience. Biographie de l'auteur :
Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm (August 24, 1872 - May 20, 1956) was an English satirist and caricaturist. He was born in London, England, the younger half-brother of actor and producer Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree. He was educated at Charterhouse School and Merton College, Oxford; it was at school that he began writing. Some of his work appeared in The Yellow Book (1894). He toured the United States while a young man, as a press agent for his brother's theatrical company. His first solo publication, The Works of Max Beerbohm, was released in 1896. In 1898 he followed George Bernard Shaw as drama critic for the Saturday Review, where he remained on the staff until 1910. From 1935 onwards, he was a successful radio broadcaster. His best known works are The Happy Hypocrite (1897) and The Christmas Garland (1912), a parody of literary styles. ""Enoch Soames"" (1919), the tale of a poet who makes a deal with the Devil to find out how posterity will remember him, is also well-known. In 1911 he wrote Zuleika Dobson, his only novel. In 2001, this novel would be named as one of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century by the editorial board of the American Modern Library. Beerbohm married actress Florence Kahn in 1910. He was knighted in 1939. He died in Rapallo, Italy aged 83. Sourced from Wikipedia.com
