Biographie de l'auteur :
Mim Scala was born in Fulham London in 1940, of Italian parents. He started life in the cosmopolitan North End Road market, where his parents ran the famous Scala's ice cream parlour. Having studied briefly at Chelsea School of Art, in his late teens he left the confines of home to find his way in the exciting London of the late 50's. He was one of the first hosts of private gaming parties in fashionable Chelsea, mixing easily with Chelsea society and Soho gangsters. After a confrontation with the Kray Twins, Mim traveled to Spain and then Morocco before returning to London to become part of the burgeoning sixties scene. Mim became a theatrical agent, and acquired the film rights to the Peter O'Donnell cartoon strip Modesty Blaise. The film, subsequently directed by Jo Janni, starred Terry Stamp and Monica Vitti and had an inspirational influence on the young Quentin Tarantino, who has used the Blaise influences in all his films including Pulp Fiction. Mim subsequently founded Scala Brown Associates Theatrical Agency in 1966. In 1977 Mim, together with Cupid Films, packaged the Jean Luc Godard film Sympathy For The Devil with the Rolling Stones. The end of the sixties saw Mim take off from his agency desk to go in search of the master musicians of the Ganoua sect in Morocco. Returning to England in 1973 Mim founded ESP Music, an agency dedicated to the management of record producers. His clients included Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones), Stewart Levine (Simply Red, BB King Minni Riperton, etc.), Jimmi Miller (Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet etc). Mim retired from the music business in 1987 to live in Ireland where he now lives with his wife Janie and his son Fred, and their horses and dogs. Mim writes, paints and loves fly fishing.
