The tale begins in a small town in East Texas, where the author started learning to fly, and ends at Webb Air Force Base, where he receives his Wings as a United States Air Force Pilot.

Mike Trahan learned to fly at a small airport near Orange, Texas. He went on to become a USAF Pilot, flying C-141 Transports and AC-47 Gunships before leaving the Air Force in 1970. Upon separation from the USAF he was hired by Delta Air Lines, Inc where he retired after 32 years of service. Trahan's Aviation career spanned 45 years - from age 15 to 60.
