9781503014367: From the Streets to Wall Street

Francis Nzeutem's parents left impoverished Cameroon for a new life in France before he was born, but they carried the cultural baggage of their homeland with them. Francis's father beat his children and wife mercilessly, and his mother was powerless to help herself or her kids. Francis studied to earn his father's approval, but years of abuse left him a rebellious, angry young man. He joined a Parisian gang, and his future looked grim.
However, visits to Cameroon and the United States would awaken an unquenchable thirst for success. Francis moved to America, married a lovely woman, and started a family. He pushed himself professionally and academically, working his way up the corporate ladder and earning two degrees. Through it all, he rebelled against the tyranny he'd experienced as a child. His own children, he swore, would never fear their father.
From the Streets to Wall Street is the unique story of a Frenchman with African roots who becomes a successful American businessman. In this compelling memoir, Francis experiences the cultures of three continents, embraces the empowering message of old-school political rap music, and puts the past behind him to create a better future for himself and his family.

From the Inside Flap :

From the pages of this book rises the compelling story of a young Cameroon boy who emerges from the darkness of physical abuse into the light of personal triumph!  Whether it's produced by Hollywood or an Indie, FROM THE STREETS TO WALLSTREET is award-winning Oscar material.  Francis Nzeutem comes of age in a France rife with racism and cultural ignorance when it came to non-whites.  Yet, he tells his story with a remarkable lack of bitterness which speaks highly of his character and wisdom when rage and revenge could have so easily overtaken him.

To cope with the brutal physical abuse he endured at his father's hands, Francis Nzeutem learns to create what he wants and excel at everything he does.  From starting a gang, to being the first high school graduate in his family, to becoming a rap star and even a champion athlete, Francis carefully charts his path to freedom and the United States!  While his successes lead to incredible opportunities and financial independence, Francis also becomes a star marathon runner whose name is known across the country. But no matter how far and how well he runs, he can't outrun the dark secrets of his childhood.  Like a ticking bomb, he moves closer and closer to an explosive meltdown if he can't break the painful shackles of his past.

FROM THE STREETS TO WALLSTREET is an inspiring story of one man's journey from poverty to posh through personal excellence and exceptional discipline.  Against all the odds, Francis Nzeutem goes where many aspire but few attain.  Get your copy today--you'll walk a little taller, stand a little straighter and smile a little brighter.  Your life will never be the same.  I promise you!
