Kartik Sharma, a product of Delhi Public School Mathura Road and IIT Kanpur, started preparing for Union Public Service Commission from 1987 when his grandfather Muktinath Sharma was burned alive due to a conspiracy. When Kartik cleared UPSC mains –the board was impressed with 91% marks in mains – a record in Indian history. They asked why he wants to join civil services? Kartik replied: “He wants to eradicate crime from whole world.” The board discussed the case with then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Kartik topped civil services but due to a computer error his rank was shown “zero”. Alok Ranjan Jha got first rank. This book is story of Kartik Sharma and his 31 missions.
