Discover how the ancient science of yoga can help you achieve peak physical abilities while helping you to balance your mind and body, when you use the easy techniques in Yoga for Athletes by Aladar Kogler, Ph.D.
Written by the five-time Olympic fencing coach and Director of the Columbia University Sports Psychology Research Laboratory, Yoga for Athletes shows how you can improve your life with as little as 10 minutes of yoga practice a day. How is this possible?
It is a well-documented fact that bodily processes, such as heart rate and blood flow, can be influenced by your will. To the athlete, this means that the key to peak physical performance lies within your own power over mind and body. Yoga for Athletes shows you how to use yoga, the oldest known form of self-development, to achieve physical and mental control, improve your sports training and performance, and enhance your everyday life in just minutes a day.
·Learn self-regulation (mind/body control)
·Increase strength and flexibility
·Regenerate the body after training and competition
·Develop body awareness and self-discipline
·Relax and release tension
·Rehabilitate and prevent injury
·Maintain general good health
·Achieve peak performance, whatever your sport
Designed for professional and semi-professional athletes ("weekend warriors," too), Yoga for Athletes offers a holistic training approach that unifies body, mind, and spirit. The techniques presented here are effective, whether you are aiming for top competitive results, want better physical health and flexibility, or are seeking a greater sense of well-being. Learn how to use yogic postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation to achieve optimum health when you get Yoga for Athletes.
