"The future of humanity passes by way of the family."
St. John Paul II's Letter to Families remains one of the most insightful and encouraging resources for parents and spouses. As the Holy Father says in the opening lines of his letter, he is knocking "at the door of your home, eager to greet you with deep affection and to spend time with you."
In this new study edition you have an incomparable guide to rediscovering the beauty of marriage and parenthood. You'll also come to a deeper sense of your role in the family, and you'll be better prepared to respond to the countless challenges that families experience in today's secular culture.
The Holy Father's heroic defense of the family gives us not only hope and courage, but also wonderful tools and advice that will lead to Christ's triumph in our "domestic church."
"The vision of Christian marriage in St. John Paul II's Letter to Families is healing, encouraging, and renewing."
Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M., Cap.
Archdiocese of Philadelphia

The Cardinals elected him Pope at the Conclave of 16 October 1978, and he took the name of John Paul II. His pontificate, one of the longest in the history of the Church, lasted nearly 27 years. Pope John Paul II exercised the Petrine ministry with a tireless missionary spirit, dedicating it all his energy. He had more meetings than any of his predecessors with the People of God and the leaders of Nations. His love for young people brought him to establish the World Youth Days. He gave an extraordinary impetus to Canonizations and Beatifications, focusing on countless examples of holiness as an incentive for the people of our time. Pope John Paul II, departed this world on April 2, 2005. On April 1, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI raised him to the glory of the altars and on April 27, 2014 Pope Francis numbered him among the saints of the Church.
