Charles Dickens was a British writer that is generally regarded as the greatest author of the Victorian era and one of the finest to have ever lived. Dickens' writings provided the most accurate portrayal, as well as the sharpest criticism, of England during the Victorian era. On top of classic long novels such as A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, and Oliver Twist, Dickens also wrote A Christmas Carol, which is considered by many to be the best Christmas story ever told.
