With each garment and component in different chapters A Technical Foundation has been designed in a way for the designers to evolve through the book reaching a level of understanding and practice, to then have the technical skills to design their own collections. The pattern block construction throughout this book is for the modern man, using up to date methodology of creation for a young slim figure. Men are now far more conscious of their body and the clothes they wear, with a greater confidence in maintaining a well-groomed appearance now defines what it is to be a man' in today's society. The acceptance and changing shapes and styles in menswear is becoming as important as women's wear. Tanya Dove was Educated at Central Saint Martins in London, UK, and has over 20 years experience in fashion design. She has worked in London and Asia, and has a global perspective of the fashion industry. She now dedicates her passion for the industry in guiding the next generation of fashion designers as a fashion design educator and author. A Technical Foundation has evolved from her years of experience in Industry and education, and the passion she has for fashion design and creation.

Tanya Dove has been making clothes since she was 12 years old, teaching herself pattern cutting and sewing. She was educated at Central Saint Martins and The London College of Fashion in the UK. Tanya has worked as a fashion designer and educator in London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Indonesia and Vietnam. Designing for the UK high street through to designer labels, including having her own fashion label. Tanya has also worked in the field of garment technology, from the fitting to quality control and production stages. She has a global perspective of the fashion industry and is a dedicated follower of fashion. She now dedicates her passion for the industry in guiding the next generation of fashion designers as a fashion design lecturer, curriculum course developer and educational consultant. Her skills as a publisher began in 2012 when she collated all the numerous handouts she had made over the years for students and formatted them into A Technical Foundation, Women's Wear Pattern Cutting. With her vast experience in garment construction, from pattern making to sewing techniques Tanya wanted to share this knowledge in a wider perspective, so was created her first publication. She wanted to create a book that was easy for students to understand without requiring a teacher to help them. With a thorough understanding of designing in industry Tanya wanted her book to be the essential reference guide where the total contents are self-explanatory and easy to use. Focusing on the industry standard of creating garment blocks Tanya formatted her publication in a way that students, professionals and the home sewer can use the book to create for individual body shapes or mass production.
