Ruth and Russell Beazley, Order of Australia recipients, led extraordinary lives helping others in the service of God, first as missionaries in Arnhem Land, Australia and then in The Salvation Army, Darwin. Ruth was a Triple Certificate Sister; Russell was an excellent, innovative agriculturalist, growing the first-ever crops of peanuts and cypress seedlings, to go with pineapples, bananas, and cassava. As well he ran a saw-mill. When the Whitlam government closed the missionaries, the Beazleys moved to Darwin. Ruth opened mobile Thrift shops across an immense area of the Top End. She supported financially the work of The Salvation Army Alcoholic Rehabilitation Centre where Russell was a Welfare Officer. He was also a part-time prison Chaplain to Berrimah Goal, and did 22 years of Hotel Visiting Ministry, retiring at 80. The Beazleys also ran an award-winning Companion Club in Darwin, and raised a family. Their service has evidenced ''living life to the full'', and of coping magnificently with change. This is their compelling story.
