Egon Schiele (1890-1918) is one of the great Expressionist painters. He was taught by Gustav Klimt, and at a very early age, like his Viennese Secession predecessors broke with the traditions of official Austrian art. His numerous self portraits and nude models remained consistent throughout his career in keeping with his erotic, sensual and tormented visions of art. The paintings and text included in this book bring the extraordinary talent of this artist who, sadly, died of Spanish influenza at the age of 28 in Vienna.

The plates and pages are all intact, totally bright and clean and the spine is tight. 159 pages. This book covers Schiele's life, his work, biography and also an index of works. The paintings and text included in this book bring vividly to life the extraordinary talent of this artist who was shot dead at the age of just 28, just as the First World War was coming to an end. His many nudes and self portraits remain true to the neurotic image of this important artist; who was very erotic, sensual and yet tormented by this. A man ahead of his time. A heavy book.
