Présentation de l'éditeur :
Lavishly illustrated with 1300 full colour and black and white photographs, World Scenography 1975-1990 is the first volume in a new series of books looking at significant stage design throughout the world since 1975. This volume has been about four years in the making and has had contributions from hundreds of people in more than 70 countries. The aim of the series is to present designs that made a difference, designs that mattered, designs of influence; to record for posterity a collection of the significant theatrical set, costume, and lighting designs from the period.

This first volume documents about 430 significant designs from 61 countries around the globe that were produced during the 1975-1990 period. Among the many notable designers documented are Boris Aronson, Maria Bjornson, David Borovsky, John Bury, Richard Foreman, Achim Freyer, David Hockney, Tadeusz Kantor, Yannis Kokkos, Ralph Koltai, Valery Levental, William Ivey Long, Alejandro Luna, John Napier, Cameron Porteous, Sun-Hi Shin, Josef Svoboda, Ichiro Takada, Joe Vanek, Ladislav Vychodil, Robin Wagner, and Robert Wilson.
Revue de presse :
Monumental... The visual assembly and display are superb... Wonderful and vibrant production stills... A very important and descriptive record. --Focus.

Containing more than a thousand breathtaking images, production photographs, set models, costume sketches, storyboards to show the impact of design on more than 400 shows from every corner of the world ... You will find in the book not only the big commercial hits of the period (Phantom, Les Mis, Chorus Line) but examples of the revolution in opera design wrought by our own David Hockney, Ralph Koltai and Timothy O Brien as well as many names not familiar to British ears but equally remarkable in their creativity. Beside them, you will find more exotic material from other, completely different theatre traditions jostling for attention in the book's purely chronological arrangement. Work from over sixty countries on every continent is here. --The Stage
