Lancia's Delta first appeared in 1979 and was a family-sized hatchback with equipment levels that marked it out as a pocket-sized luxury car. With sharp styling by Giugiaro of Ital Design, stood apart from other small cars. Its handling was typically Lancia sporting. There were several development changes but in 1986 the first HF 4WD appeared - which later became the Integrale.
