Présentation de l'éditeur :
In Poets & Poetry of the Great Blasket, Séamas Ó Scannláin has brought together the work of three poets whose lives were closely bound to the Blasket Island, spanning a period of over 350 years. This dual language anthology paints a picture of social change and linguistic evolution over those centuries.Piaras Feiritéar (16031653) was a member of the pre-Cromwellian Irish aristocracy and his poetry carries the hallmarks of his class.Seán Ó Duínnlé (18121889) belonged to the landless labourers of nineteenth century Ireland. His poetry was on the lips of his community long after he had died, and it was much admired for its eloquence, its beauty and its vigour.
