Hard covers, dust jacket. Etat : Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Fine. Diccon Alexander (illustrateur). Fine in fine d.w. A "new type of flora" covering both the systematic and ethnological aspects of the Socotran flora (Soqotran if you must). Designed, some might say over-designed, by Diccon Alexander and with ingenious fully-illustrated tabular keys, this book is a mine of scholarship by Miranda Morris and Tony Miller. Colour plates from p. 233 to 280 are not up to the standard of reproduction achieved elsewhere in the text, though anyone familiar with Migahid and Hammouda's flora of Saudi Arabia will not be disappointed. Per head of population, Socotra must have the highest ratio of Plant Species to Humans of any island of comparable size in the world, as well as one of the highest rates of endemism. This book deserves to be owned by anyone interested in owning a uniquely detailed account of one of the world's most bizarre and fascinating floras. Book is rather heavy: please ask for a transport quotation when ordering. Weight: 3.0 Language: English. N° de réf. du vendeur 1016
