When Veronica's doctor told her she had cancer, she was confused and terrified. Then he told her some cancers can be cured. The book shows Veronica (who has Down's Syndrome) having radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery and deals honetly with the unpleasant side of treatment. It is meant as a counselling tool for use by anyone working with people who have cancer. The book ends on a positive note.
