Nudist, or naturist, magazines comprising photographs of naked men, women and children enjoying outdoor activities first appeared as far back as the beginning of the 20th century. Nudist culture boomed in the 1950s and early 1960s, following a landmark ruling which permitted such material to be freely distributed via the US mail.
