Born in London, Patrick Skene Catling was educated there and at Oberlin College in the United States. As a Royal Canadian Air Force navigator and as a journalist, he has travelled extensively. As a journalist he has worked for the Baltimore Sun, the (Manchester) Guardian, the Telegraph and Newsweek as well as contributing to numerous other publications. He has published twelve novels and nine children's books including the hugely popular title 'The Chocolate Touch' first published in 1952 and still in print. His now lives in West Cork and is a regular contributor to the Irish Times and The Spectator as well as many other newspapers and magazines.
