Pedro Pires de Miranda is Senior Vice President of Siemens AG in Munich and global Head of Key Account Management Siemens One, since 2008. Also Member of the Sales Board, Siemens AG. Since 2012, Executive Head of the Global Center of Competence Cities in London, overseeing business development in 70 cities worldwide, focusing on intelligent infrastructure in the domains of Buildings, Energy and Transportation. Started his career at General Motors Corporation as production engineer for Opel, joining Siemens in 1983 as manufacturing engineer and further as Plant General Manager. Previous Management positions at Siemens Regensburg, Erlangen and Lisbon included Manufacturing Development and Systems Engineering. Between 1994 and 2008 responsible at Siemens for Project Management and International Sales for large Infrastructure Projects in Qatar, Portugal and the Middle-East and headed several General Management and Executive positions in the Industry Sector and was member of the CEC in Portugal. Mr. Miranda holds a Diploma degree in Electrical and Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, USA, and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Germany and the US. He enrolled at Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School (US), Engineering Management at Krannert School of Management (US), General Management at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) and Industrial Engineering at REFA Institute Darmstadt (Germany). Martin Powell is Head of Urban Development within Siemens Global Centre of Competence for Cities. He works with city Leaders across the globe providing advice and strategies to cities on meeting their environmental targets. Martin was the Mayoral Advisor on the Environment to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. As Managing Director of Cambridge Management & Research, he was also a Special Advisor to the C40 Cities Group, Chaired by former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg. Martin speaks extensively on the topic of cities and the solutions needed to address the effects of rapid urbanisation and the impacts of Climate Change.
