Ian V. Hogg (1926-2002) served in the Royal Artillery of the British Army for twenty-seven years. Upon retiring in 1972, he held the appointment of Master Gunner at the Royal Military College of Science, where he taught on the subjects of firearms, artillery, and ammunition.Les Thurston grew up collecting shrapnel and shell casingsduring World War II. He has served on national service in Egypt and has provided his ammunitions expertise to the Imperial War Museums and the police.
