It's an examination of the choices a woman might make to survive in a world that s hostile towards her. While the men fight, organise and do business, Asha has to work out how to make it to tomorrow. The book also considers how the choices made by society as well as parents affect the beliefs and actions of future generations. --Naomi Frisby
She read Economics at Cambridge, following which she worked in investment banking. She suspected she wasn't cut out for the world of finance, though, and this realisation hit her with unmistakable clarity when she found herself in a Frankfurt conference centre surrounded by industry veterans crowing over the latest Financial Times article to call them vultures. She felt a germ of a story take root inside her, and she immediately left the conference centre - with its champagne and its crowds - to sit in her hotel room and write. She was the happiest she had been for years.
She has since written opinion pieces for Indian broadsheets and the Huffington Post as well as short stories for publications including the Edinburgh Review. Where the River Parts is her first novel.
