Colin A. Owers is a well-known author who has contributed to magazines and Journals associated with the study of WWI aviation for more than 40 years. His work has appeared in Windsock, Cross and Cockade (USA and British journals), Over the Front, World War I Aero, Air Enthusiast, Aviation News, as well as contributing Datafiles to the Albatros Productions series of monographs on WWI aircraft. Colin has also supplied drawings to this series of books on German aircraft. He has contributed to Wingnut Wings and other manufacturers of plastic WWI aircraft kits, to ensure that they are as accurate as possible. A man of quiet demeanor, he is currently retired and lives in Canberra, the Australian federal capital, after a career over 40 years in local government in rural NSW as Engineer/Town Planner. From building Auora models of WWI aircraft to helping present day aircraft restorers and reproduction builders was a long journey in which he gradually moved away from building kits to collecting, researching, writing and drawing the aircraft of WWI. As a boy Colin would be taken to Rose Bay by his father to see the QANTAS flying boats, and he developed a love of marine aircraft. He undertook one of the last flights in the Ansett Sunderland flying boat before it was sold and left Australia for good and relishes the experience although he was airsick for most of the flight. His most memorable flight was in the front cockpit of the TVAL F.E.2b reproduction. Colin credits Quentin Reynolds They Fought for the Sky as the book that made him give up Spitfires for Camels and Messerschmitts for Fokkers. This book may not be 100% historically accurate but Colin considered it gave the legends of WWI air-warfare life and remains one of his favorites. With the assistance of his wife Julie, he has visited archives and museums around the world continuing researching and meeting friends. He does voluntary work for the RAF Museum, Hendon, and the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. He is presently working on a book about the Curtiss and Felixstowe flying boats.

This book describes and illustrates the development of Brandenburg biplane seaplanes in WWI with text, 336 photos, 54 color profiles, 13 factory 3-view drawings and 28 SVK drawings, production quantities and serial numbers of aircraft, and aircraft dimensions and performance specifications. In addition, 15 Brandenburg biplane seaplanes are illustrated in 1/72 scale (6) or 1/48 scale (9) drawings, all but three by the author. The book has 276 pages and is of interest to aviation historians, enthusiasts, and modelers alike.
