"The Recipes of Provence" are beautifully and lovingly shared here by Andree Maureau, born to the very old Provençal family of Vaison in Vaucluse, in Egypt in 1932. After raising her family and spending most of her life in North Africa, she returned to Haute-Provence and indulged in her passion for heritage and gastronomy. She began compiling traditional Provencal recipes from her own stock, her families and local peasants. It has since become a reference in the field, not only because of the authenticity but because of Maureau's joyous writing and outlook on life. While this book was released with a minimal advertising budget, word-of-mouth caused it's sales to rocket above 350,000 copies. It was published by the Association 4A Cadenet in handwritten card form in 1989 and received the Provencal Innovation Award that year. It has since, been translated into English, German, and Italian. This French edition is published in Ms. Maureau's handwriting which furthers the feeling that you are sharing in longheld family recipes. She has since written three further recipe books all to much acclaim.
