The noted Paris-born, Brooklyn-based painter Jules de Balincourt depicts a universe in which abstract and representational images collide, orbit and satellite among each other, creating a kind of loose, free-associating, non-linear narrative, according to the artist himself. This volume collects recent works exhibited at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris.
Jules de Balincourt was born in 1972 in Paris, France and works in Brooklyn, New York. He received his MFA in 2005 from Hunter College in New York. Exhibitions include Zach Feuer Gallery (LFL), Deitch Projects in New York, John Connelly Presents in New York, Peres Projects in Los Angeles, Team gallery in New York, and PS1/MoMA (2005, 2004). Working independently, Bob Nickas has realized more than forty exhibitions for galleries and museums since 1984. He is currently a curatorial advisor at P.S. 1 and regularly contributes to numerous periodicals and publications.
