Synopsis
Le présent livre de recherche « Rice : yield and its components role in high yielding variety development » est basé sur les recherches sur le rendement du riz, les composants de rendement, les traits de qualité, l'existence de divergence génétique, l'association entre différents caractères, combinant la variance de capacité et leurs effets, l'action génique impliquée dans l'héritage des caractères, l'héritabilité et l'avance génétique et l'estimation de l'hétérose par rapport au meilleur parent et variétés standard. Le riz, l'une des principales cultures céréalières de l'Inde, est cultivé comme culture pure principalement à Kharif. La culture est cultivée en grande surface mais se caractérise par une très faible productivité en raison du manque de variétés à haut rendement adaptées aux différentes saisons et conditions agronomiques dans différentes régions du pays. Le rendement est un produit final complexe d'un certain nombre de composants dont la plupart sont sous contrôle polygénique. Toutes les variations de rendement doivent être accompagnées de changements dans un ou plusieurs des composants. L'objectif ultime de tout programme de sélection végétale est de développer des génotypes améliorés mieux que les génotypes existants. Cela nécessite une amélioration génétique grâce à l'utilisation maximale des ressources alléliques pour développer un génotype idéal.
