Synopsis
Gilles Clément setzt der alles gleichmachenden Globalisierung die Diversität des Lebens entgegen. Als ausgebildeter Gärtner stellt er die heutigen Kenntnisse der Pflanzenverwendung und Ökologie in den Dienst des « planetarischen Gartens » - in dem Pflanzenarten aus den unterschiedlichsten Kulturen vom Landschaftsgestalter gesammelt, komponiert und in ihrer Entwicklung behutsam begleitet werden. Dieses in Privatgärten entwickelte Konzept hat Clément in Zusammenarbeit mit renommierten Architekten, jüngst mit Jean Nouvel, bei seinen großen Stadtparks wie dem Parc Citroën, dem Park an der Grande Arche von La Défense oder dem Museumspark am Musée du Quai Branly in Paris umgesetzt. Die künstlerische Qualität seiner Entwürfe wird von Ausstellungen und Installationen im Canadian Centre for Architecture CCA in Montreal oder im Centre Pompidou an der Seite von Daniel Buren oder Nan Goldin bezeugt. In mehr als dreißig Publikationen und zahlreichen Vorträgen weltweit hat Gilles Clément seit Jahrzehnten seinen Beitrag zur Landschaftsarchitektur dargestellt. Dies ist die erste umfassende englischsprachige Monografie über sein Werk.
