English writer, editor, critic, and suffragist, Alice Meynell (1847 - 1922) is mainly known for her poems. She worked as editor of different magazines and expressed her concern against British Imperialism. Her essays are known for their refined style. One of the leading literary figures of her era, Meynell also edited anthologies and hosted literary gatherings at her home.
