9786139815340: Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis of Ferroalloys

Synopsis

The modern ferroalloy industry includes a wide range of different types of simple and complex ferroalloys. Industrial production of ferroalloys is associated with the type of applied reducing agent and they are obtained by a carbon-reducing, silicothermal and aluminothermic process. One of the most cost-effective ways to produce refractory materials is the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) method. Energy-saving and environmentally friendly technology SHS, a relatively new method. It was developed on the basis of the phenomenon of solid flame processes discovered in 1967, in which the initial, final and intermediate substances are in the combustion wave in the solid phase. The SHS technology makes it possible to minimize drawbacks of the above mentioned methods of producing ferroalloys. Innovative ideas on the management of the processes of phase separation and dispersion of the reaction mass, the formation of phase and chemical composition contributed to the development of a new scientific direction of research - SHS – metallurgy.
