Siena Baba is a happy artist with a weird and wonderful way of seeing the world - and an even weirder and more wonderful way of painting it. People say his pictures look like nothing they know, but that doesn't bother him - until one day he paints an extraordinary set of animals, who start expressing their own opinions on the subject...

Renowned Gond tribal artist Bhajju Shyam illustrates this humorous fable about the power of the imagination. Featuring charming creatures like the Pea-pig, the Croco-rooster and the Monk-upine, children will never want to leave the surreal world of Siena Baba.

Review :

this book shows that books are where wonders are found. (Sunday Times)

Bhajju Shyam's folk art illustrations make this book stand out on the shelf. (

Art and reality collide in this charming story on ways of seeing and interpreting the world. ....The illustrator’s style, combing individual vision with the artistic traditions of the Gond of Central India, is thoroughly enticing. Stunningly bold with patterned backgrounds and rich, earthy colours, the artwork is sure to inspire imaginative young readers/artists to follow Siena Baba’s example by creating their own imaginary creatures.
