out of print and extremely rare this book is highly collectable. The World renown photographer Juan Manuel Castro Prieto discovered in April 1990 the country that, since childhood, haunted his wandering reveries, Peru. The Inca Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley were his first contacts with the remains of a legendary civilization of which he absorbed to the point of becoming a passionate expert. The lush vegetation lost in the fog, the mountain range, the Andean plateau, the Amazon forest, coastline, all Peruvian regions were the backdrop of a project that took him to Peru nine times and took completed in spring 2000. Thousands of photographs taken there emanates a dreamlike atmosphere. Landscapes, portraits, scenery have this perfume imaginary journeys. The centuries hanging in the ruins mingle with a life whose characters resemble literary evocations. Probably because Castro Prieto uses the photography not to show the reality but to give shape to his dreams and life to his own existence
