Description du livre Soft cover. Etat : New. Language: Italian. Number of pages: 344 Dimensions: 215 x 237 x 24 mm Illustration: 506 b/w + 8 drawings + 9 graphics A strict and rigorous monographic study dedicated to the bronze sculptures reproducing the human figure conserved in the Gregorian Etruscan Museum, edited in Italian only. A catalogue of this section of the Vatican Museums, it offers a precious analysis of 148 examples, a thorough historical reconstruction of the formation of this Vatican collection and of the studies on this class of objects. Generously illustrated, it is organized in three sections, each exhibiting works in a chronological sequence: the large bronzes among them Mars di Todi the small bronzes also including false and new specimens, still unpublished at the time of the publication and the schematic bronzes stylized small figures represented in geometrical schemes. Objects on display are illustrated through accurate critical charts, including several images and details, a meticulous description and examination of the ornaments and inscriptions, information about their function, typology, conservation status, origin and dating, as well as bibliographic references. Particularly interesting is the additional study about the technique of realization of bronzes by Maurizio Sannibale, curator of the Etruscan and Italic Antiquities section and the Gregorian Etruscan Museum. An index of bronzes by inventory number and a large bibliography close the volume. N° de réf. du vendeur PGVAT27
