Located at the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is a land of great contrasts, from the rugged, weatherworn Hajar Mountains in the north, across the barren desert of the Central Plains to Dhofar in the south, where tropical humidity in summer nurtures a lush greenery. There are camping and hiking adventures amid the grandeur of the Rimal Ash Sharqiyyah (Wihiba Sands). It has alluring beaches along 1700 km Indian Ocean coastline. There is the turtle sanctuary of Ras Al Jinz, and Musandam, Dhofar, the Batinah coast and the province of Ash Sharqiyyah.

Biographie de l'auteur :

Georg Popp studied art and art education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He was invited to visit Oman privately in 1992, when the country first opened to tourism, and thanks to his Omani hosts discoverd the beauty of a pristine land which little-known to the outside world. Numerous visits and his involvement in multiple cultural projects have contributed to an in-depth knowledge of the land and its people. He is currently General Secretary of the German Omani Association, coordinating international exhibitions related to and on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman. Juma Al-Maskari, born in Zanzibar, was sent after school from Oman to Germany to study electro-engineering. He resides in Germany and is a founding member of the German-Oman Association, and current Member of the Advisory Board, for Communications. He is an IT specialist and corporate consultant for data and assists Mr Popp with cultural events and exhibitions about Oman.
