About the Author :
Chef J. Hugh McEvoy, C.R.C., C.E.C. An adjunct professor at Kendall College in Chicago, Chef J. teaches food science and culinary arts. The Chef is the President of the Chicago Research Chefs and past President of the Chicago Nutrition Association. He is the winner of the prestigious RCA 2002 President's Award for outstanding contributions to food science and was again named co-winner in 2003. Chef J. helped found a new chapter of the American Culinary Federation, the Windy City Chefs. Recently he has been appointed to the board of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, formed in Paris in the year 1248, the world's oldest and most prestigious culinary society. Ginny Erwin M.S., R.D., C.F.T. Ginny is a recognized expert in nutrition, fitness, and wellness counseling. President and founder of GINETICS, Ginny is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietetic Nutritionist, and Certified Fitness Trainer. She has been certified with the American Council on Exercise since 1998. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and is a founding member of the Weight Management Dietary Practice Group. Ginny holds advanced certification from the American Dietetic Association in Adult Weight Management. A graduate of University of Illinois Chicago, Broward College Florida, and Mansfield Academy in Massachusetts; She holds her Masters Degree in nutrition, health and communications. What Color is a Pickle Pie - is sheer brilliance! McEvoy and Erwin appeal to children s age-appropriate sense of adventure and curiosity, first, as an entrée to the fruit and vegetable kingdom. The illustrator (Amanda Gross) did a great job in making the fruits and vegetables appearance easily identifiable, which should prove helpful when mom takes the little ones grocery shopping for colorful foods (that happen to be great tasting and good for you). Shhhhh! Let s keep that our little secret... What is so refreshing about this children s book is that you will not find a word about how great tasting or how-good-for-you fruits and vegetables are. At first glance, this may seem an odd thing especially coming from the unlikely dynamic duo of a chef and registered dietitian.
