A basic applied entomology textbook for students of agricultural science and related subjects, this book summarises the general principles and practice of insect pest control for PNG and other tropical and subtropical areas.
This volume discusses how and when insects become pests, and how their populations can be assessed for control purposes.
The book also details insect pests of cocoa, coconut, oil palm, sago, rubber, coffee, tea, quinine and stored products. The pests are liberally illustrated and their management strategies discussed. All known insects recorded in the PNG agroecosystems and the damage caused by them are given in the last chapter.
There are throughout useful reviews of an extensive, fast-growing literature on different aspects of pest management, much of which is generally unobtainable in PNG and other developing countries.
