Description :

Brown served in the Civil War and was an Atlanta attorney and businessman. He was general counsel for the Western and Atlanta Railroad, and built street railways in Atlanta as well. ANTI-PROHIBITION consists of a series of letters written by Brown to the Atlanta Constitution in the 1880's in which he protests strenuously against "the prohibition craze." He makes good use of the Bible: "Start not, my prohibition friend, when I tell you that Christ drank wine. He drank it so often in His life that He was called a 'WINE BIBBER'." (p. 9). Rather scarce, with 5 copies located in OCLC. This copy signed on the front cover, with an inscription to Genl. Manuel Gonzales, onetime President of Mexico. No pencil or ink markings in text. Light gray paper covers with black lettering. Large closed tear at bottom of spine proceeding up approx. 3 inches. Smaller closed tear at top of spine approx. 1 1/2 inches. Corners curled. Top corner of front cover is missing. Digital pictures of book available upon request. NOT Ex-Library. near Very Good binding. N° de réf. du libraire
