A propos de cet article

CONDITION: Very Good in Good jacket; no names or other marks, top edge on both boards is bumped for about 3" with quite a bad bump on the top board, otherwise both boards and pages are straight, tight, and clean; edgeworn, lightly foxed yellow jacket with 2" tear at spine foot, 1" tear on back, and half inch chip on front top; unclipped 2.75. New York: G. P. Putnam, 1964, 1st nap; grey boards with red and black titles and portrait of Elsie; in yellow jacket with red titles and Elsie photo on front, photos from her life on back; 7.5x9.2"; 64 pp. The cartoon of the original Elsie, a Jersey heifer, grew to become one of the most recognized advertising icons in the US and Canada and is still used though Borden's ceased doing business in the 1990's. Elsie's work went way beyond advertising, and so this book, written on the 25th anniversary of her first World's Fair appearance, is a short social history of the World War Two years and beyond, War Bonds, Travel, Freedomland, a second World's Fair, family, and more. The author drew on several private collections and the Borden records to find the many photos in this book. ABE Heritage Seller since 1996; conservative AB condition grading.
