"Whereas great Fruads and Depredations upon the property of the Public and Individuals are frequently committed in His Majesty's Dockyard at PLYMOUTH DOCK, and elswhere in that town and neighbourhood, and also upon ther navigable Rivers and Waters near it; and it may be expedient, for the more effectual prevention thereof in future, to establish, in a convenient place in the said town, a Public Office, of the Nature of the Public Office now established in the Parish of St. John of Wapping, in the County of Middlesex, under the name of "The Thames Polic Office". .
