Very Good: clean straight and unmarked but for author's inscription. Hardcover, 12x17.5 cm, 36 pp. Maroon, with small title patch lower front panel. Briefly inscribed and signed by the author. A play in one act and three scenes, first performed by a Campfire Girls troop in San Francisco, with Mikado-reminscent characters such as Princess, Emperor, Loon-Moon, Chamberlain, etc., and "a brilliant stone of fabulous worth": A science-fiction related rarity? Boland was "an intellectual and historian, a seeker interested in the ancient occult mysteries, a pleasant 'sage'," (ref. Robert Sommers). A correspondent with H P Lovecraft and Robert L Howard, for sometime he was custodian of most of Howard's unpublished work, including many of the Conan stories. Lovecraft wrote in 1936: "an interesting note the other day from an apparently scholarly chap in San Francisco - by name, Stuart Morton Boland - who announces himself as a librarian who has been all over the world studying esoteric elder parchments like the Necronomicon in various places . seems to be an extremely pleasant sage, & has promised to send me some mysterious objects which he obtained at the cryptic pre-Nahuan Pyramid of the Sun ." Very scarce, no other copies known of anywhere, including WorldCat and Amazon's past sales. . N° de réf. du libraire 206129
