Bruges ( Brugge ) , Imprimerie Verbeke-Loys, 1931, 3 vols bound in 2. In-8°. [1] (Text) in-8°, 475 pp. [2] (plates) (2)nn pp + 40 plates. ; (2)nn pp + 92 plates. Uniformly bound in blue half leather. Supra libro of baron Houart in gilt on front cover. Printed ex-libris tipped on to the first paste down. (binding with the label of Weckesser et fils). All original wrappers retained. Spine evenly discolored, some slight wear at extremeties. From the library of Francis (François) baron Houtart (1882 - 1965) who left his books to his son-in-law count Philippe Lippens (1910-1989). This publication was made in cooperation with the ''Société d' Bruges''. Tipped in is one original letter to Houtart by Coppieters regarding this publication ; also a postcard by the Parisian bookseller Veuve Belin (Oct. 11th 1932) confirming that a manuscript once belonging to Louis de Bruges, seigneur de Gruuthuuse and mentioned at pp. 86 of this book is still for sale. The manuscript is valued at 200.000 FFr. 4 leaves of their sale catalogue N°378 , containing the description of lot 421 - the Gruuthuuse manuscript from 1482 - are also bound in at pp. 86 of the text volume. Rare complete copy of this publication illustrating the ties between Bruges and the British royalty, with an interesting provenance and pertinant additional material added.
