First Edition. One of the basic source books on the two British expeditions from Canada in 1777 into Northern New York during the Revolutionary War. The compiler, William Leete Stone (1835-1908), American journalist and historian, was the son of the well-known historian William Leete Stone (1792-1844). See DAB. Published in the centennial year of Burgoyne's surrender at Saratoga. Howes 51036. Early gift inscription dated "Oct 7th 1877" on front flyleaf.
