Kenan Heise, a staff writer and reporter for the Chicago Tribune for 34 years, is an award-winning journalist and author. Among the books he has written or co-authored on Chicago are: Chicago, the Beautiful; Chaos, Creativity & Culture: A Sampling of Chicago in the 20th Century; Hands On Chicago; Chicago Originals; the Chicagoization of America; and They Speak for Themselves: Interviews with the Destitute of Chicago. He and Leon have known each other for more than 40 years and worked together on Leon's book, Challenging the Daley Machine: A Chicago Alderman Memoir (Northwestern University Press, 2005.)
