Détails bibliographiques

Titre : Collection of pamphlets on religious ...

Description :

London, 1846. 5 titles, removed. These form a nice continuum to follow the "nice-nasty" bickering (& whole-heartedly supported) divergent views on confession, absolution, & other assorted vulnerabilities. We give author's last name, title, & date as follows: Close, An Apology for The Evangelical Party, Being a Reply to the Pamphlet of the Rev. W. Gresley, A. M., on "The Real Danger of the Church," 1846; Gresley, Letter on Confession & Absolution, (1846); Gresley, Answer to a Letter of the Rev. E. B. Elliott, 1856; Elliott, Delusion of the Tractarian Clergy as to the Validity of their Ministerial Orders, Shown, on their Own Principles in a Letter to the Rev. W. Gresley, 1856; & Neale, "Tractarian Delusions," Catholic Truths: A Letter in Reply to that of the Rev. E. B. Elliott, M. S., 1856. Titles by Neale & Close not recorded per OCLC, THE TWO BY Gresley in one & two locations respectively & that by Elliott located in four U.S. libs. It is difficult to believe the degree of intensity exhibited in these pamphlets authored by pastors who could have bestirred themselves w/ministering to children in workhouses, "fallen women" & those attempting to survive the enclosure acts. Yet the issues were as real (to these authors) as Greenpeace & women's choice today., For these five stellarational exemplars of 19th religionism (This price is discounted 50%.).
