A propos de cet article

Near Fine: shows only the most minute indications of use: just a touch of rubbing to the corner tips. The binding is square and secure; the text is clean. A handsome volume: very close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 278pp. Translated with an Introduction and Notes by William Harris Stahl. (Number XLVIII Records of Civilization, Sources and Studies Series). First Edition [1952]; Second Printing [1966]. Hardback: Lacks DJ. This edition of Macrobius's Commentary on the Dream of Scipio offeres a lengthy, informative, and articulate introduction, which continues numerous references to other secondary sources. The translation is clear, and Stahl also provides appendices and a bibliograpny regarding to the work and topic. This edition is a great resource for scholars of the literature and philosophy of the middle ages or late antiquity. An Indespensible edition of one of the most important books of late antiquity. Macrobius Ambrosius Theodosius, commonly referred to as Macrobius, was a Roman who flourished during the early fifth century. He is primarily known for his writings, which include the Saturnalia, a compendium of ancient Roman religious and antiquarian lore, the Commentarii in Somnium Scipionis ("Commentary on the Dream of Scipio"), which was an important source for Platonism in the Latin West during the Middle Ages. First Edition [1952]; Second Printing [1966]. N° de réf. du libraire 44266
