Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. This VG quality and likely first edition book was copyrighted in 1935 and published by Cupples & Leon Company; it is 7-7/8" tall with 201 numbered pages of text followed by 11 unnumbered pages of ads. This book--orange cloth binding with black lettering and illustration--has a slight lean, is very clean, free of edge dings with both lower corners bumped; the head and heel of the spine are lightly bumped with some color loss at both places. The bottom edges have a modest amount of wear. The spine is not faded and is clean and the lettering is quite legible. Except for inked name/address on the pre-printed book plate on the FFEP, and that information repeated on the front paste down, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The text paper is very mildly toned and is quite flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis is on coated paper and is clean and intact--it is the only illustration. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. The list at the front of the book lists through the first five titles of this series; the list on the front flap of the jacket lists only the first four titles in this series; and the list on the reverse side of the jacket lists the first five titles. The VG- quality jacket is clean and has a moderate amount of wear. There are small chips at all four corners, a 1" tear at the top of the rear panel, and small chips and wear at both head and heel of the spine. The spine is lightly faded.
