Synopsis : About 50% of Derby's output over a century was porcelain figures, and the factory rapidly eclipsed its English competitors. In this book the author analyzes the important 1770-1796 Factory List, identifying most of the figures involved and illustrating over 280 figures in his account of the 397 items in the list. A further 240 illustrations are devoted to Experimental, Dry-edge, Transitional, Pale Family and Patch-marked models from the 1750-70 period, and to soft-paste and bone-china models from the 1796-1848. All in all, nearly 750 models are described. The book concludes with two appendices giving biographical details for sculptors, modellers and craftsmen employed by the factory. Dr. Peter Bradshaw is the author of "English Porcelain Figures".
