A propos de cet article

Edition : Third Edition, Recent full burgundy morocco. Spine in 6 compartments of five raised bands, gilt title on two., John Arbuthnot (1667-1735) was a physician, satirist, and polymath. His significant contributions to both medicine and literature enshrine him as an important figure of the age. His medical training, though informal, proved to be thorough, as he enrolled at St. Andrews as a doctoral student in medicine and defended seven theses that same day, winning his credentials. He was a member of the Royal Society, associating with Sir Isaac Newton and serving as Queen Anne?s physican extraordinaire. An Essay Concerning the Nature of Aliments was first published in 1731. It was very popular, necessitating the release of a second edition the following year with supplementary advice on diet, and a third edition in 1735. Along with his medical successes, Arbuthnot was a founding member of the famous Scriblerus Club, and was a chief influence on many works by authors such as Swift and Pope., Size : 8vo (124 x 192mm), Volume : 2 Volumes in 1, Ex Libris Birmingham Medical Institute with faint ink stamp on the title page., P.
